Who are we?
Radio Calderdale is the hospital radio station for Halifax and has been a ‘Friend at the Bedside’ for over thirty years. We were founded in 1981 by Trevor Simpson and were originally based at the Halifax General Hospital, broadcasting also to the Royal Halifax Infirmary and Northowram Hospital. We now have our purpose built studios at, and broadcast to, the Calderdale Royal Hospital. We broadcast 24 hours a day on Channel 10 of patients’ bedside TV sets.
We are also now available to listen to world wide online, and you can tune in right now by click "listen now".
We are a registered charity and run is entirely by volunteers. Many of our volunteers can be seen regularly around the wards, chatting to patients, checking our output and taking requests and dedications.
We are always on the lookout for new people to join our dedicated team, head to the members section if you want to find out more information about joining out team of volunteers.
