I find it hard to believe but I have been involved at Radio Calderdale since 1991; I have held several positions at the station including Vice Chairman and, for the past 9 years, Programme Controller-this involves planning the schedule and maintaining the Myriad system which provides music and shows for when there is no live presenter present. I am also heavily involved in fundraising and broadcasting live from the Victoria Theatre.
I have presented shows for the past 26 years which have taken in a variety of styles of music. These days I am on air on Monday at 9.00pm and Friday at 10pm with The Vinyl Countdown-the title has 2 uses; I regularly countdown charts from the days when vinyl was our format of choice as well as celebrating the fact that vinyl has made a resounding comeback by playing an hour of music on the finest format in each show. My son told me today that the average person has 7,000 thoughts per day-in my case 6,500 are about vinyl, 499 are about football and the other 1 I’ll leave to your imagination!
I’ve been obsessed with music for as long as I can remember and it is great to be able to combine that with, hopefully, entertaining patients in the hospital. My tastes, which are reflected in the shows I present, are eclectic but Queen, The Beatles and Mike Oldfield are the most played artists over the past 24 years.
I have 5 children and work in Education. When not at Radio Calderdale I love watching football, in particular Liverpool FC and my 2 sons teams and collecting vinyl.
