Hi I’m Tim,
Lived here in Halifax for most of my life, but originally from the sunny south west. Still not perfected the Yorkshire accent I’m afraid haha!
I’ve been a member of Radio Calderdale for 28 years now, although seriously it feels like yesterday I was learning to cue up my first 7 inch vinyl on the turntable! During that time I have served as Programme Controller, Studio Manager and even a two year spell as Chairman. I now serve as Vice Chair.
Since 1989, I have presented the weekly chart show on Radio Calderdale, originally known as the Woolworths Chart Show. I have always been somewhat obsessed with the UK charts , and it’s been exciting to witness some big changes in pop since I presented my first number one – Bangles – Eternal Flame! In those days it was all about glorious vinyl and blowing the dust, but over the years we’ve seen the rise and fall of the cassette and CD single, the incredible impact of downloads and now streaming! But one thing remains the same and that is the excitement of seeing a great record get to number one!
In addition to the chart show , I also present the ‘Mystery Years’ which is really a great excuse to play some terrific oldies you don’t often here on the radio – it’s a 3 hour nostalgia fest. Outside of Radio Calderdale, I have two teenage kids that keep my stress levels and bank balance busy! For my day job, I also work as a trainer for a well known high street bank! I am also a huge film and classic TV buff and my idea of relaxation is a bottle of wine and DVD box set.
I still really enjoy being a member of Radio Calderdale, and am very proud of the entertainment service we provide to our listeners in the hospital. It’s also been good to meet so many interesting people both inside and outside the station at various events.
You can hear me every Sunday from 4pm for Calderdale’s Chart Show and every Tuesday at 9pm for the ‘Mystery Years’
